Let's Talk About
Racism
One Word at a Time
"COMPASSION WITHOUT ACTION IS JUST OBSERVATION"
IF WE CAN'T TALK ABOUT RACISM, HOW WILL WE EVER DISMANTLE IT?
Do you have an open heart combined with an open mind and a strong desire to be part of uniting our communities? Do you wish to live in a world where racial justice and equity are the status quo for everyone?
Do you feel uncomfortable engaging in conversations about racism because you think you don't know enough or fear you might say the wrong thing?
Have you been involved in conversations that seem to go nowhere or come to an abrupt end, even though you had good intentions?
In this introductory course, we will:
-
Unpack some key words used in discussions about racism
-
Discuss why certain words elicit emotional responses which shut down communication
-
Learn why discomfort is essential for change
This course is for you if:
-
You are ready to face uncomfortable truths
-
You want to learn how to support and show up for BIPOC
-
You want to begin an anti-racism practice, starting with deep self inquiry
Anti-racism is a practice, an internal process and requires a long term commitment to unlearning, learning and action. This course is just one small step in a lifelong process.

Hitomi is an incredible teacher and it's an absolute honor to continue to learn from her! She has a beautiful soul - Hitomi’s genuine kindness and strength is visible in everything she does, including her webinars. She creates a safe and inclusive environment, where everyone can come together to ask tough questions and learn. I left this webinar with a much deeper understanding of racism, the ways I can personally step up to challenge it, and how I can support BIPOC."

Malaurie Barber
"We hired Hitomi to teach her anti-racism workshop for the teachers at our yoga studio. Hitomi was great! She makes the workshop really accessible. She communicates complex issues in a very digestible way. Hitomi has an excellent understanding of anti-racism work and adds to that her own story. This serves to personalize the material in an invaluable way. While anti-racism content can often be triggering or cause defensiveness, Hitomi creates a very safe environment for individuals be able to look honestly at the structures operating inside themselves."

Colleen Hieber
"Hitomi's workshop on how to talk about race was very helpful. It demystifies and de-triggers a lot of the words that make starting an anti-racist education difficult for people who don't identify as Black. I highly recommend it!"

Kathy Kruml
"Thank you for this amazing course Hitomi! It helped me identify what I can do to be part of the solution. Silent no longer! Change will only begin to happen with understanding, reflection and honest communication"
